First off, I have to say thanks to thefreak. He's been super enthusiastic from day one with this whole "dad" thing. He goes to the doctor's appointments, keeps me from lifting things, talks to the belly-- it's pretty sweet, and I'm really lucky to have him as my partner in this. He also kept me from choking the receptionist at the doctor's office today.
My appointment was at 11.20. We got there at 11.05. I didn't see an actual medical professional until 1-fucking-30. I was trying to not be That Woman, but Jebus H Christ I was this close to going off on the front desk. I'm not going to tell you how to do your job. But I do pretty much exactly your job with a larger staff and more equipment. ( And you suck. )
We were there for a nucheal (back of the neck) translucency scan, which with a blood test will tell if the kid has Downs Syndrome or a few other genetic problems. I didn't know you could do that. Neat. Unfortunately, it only works up to about 14 weeks, and we're at 15. *doh*
The dates have been sort of bouncing all over the place.. much like Ninja-chan. Once the ninja is awakened, it moves so much that it's hard for the tech to get a good measurement, he he. I'm just going to clear my calendar starting at the end of June.
So since we couldn't do the test, they just did a thorough ultrasound of everything that they *could* see. We did get it to hold still long enough to catch a few things: - it's probably a boy. It was.. um.. kind of obvious in one of the scans. Of course nothing is certain until he's actually out, but it's safe to say that we probably won't be needing any pretty pretty princess dresses. Unless he's into that sort of thing, which is totally ok. - he's doing pretty good. Got all the important parts working, anyway. - check out the photo! :D

| New Bunnies! New Website! New Features! |
[Jan. 8th, 2010|12:53 am] |
MONDO thanks to Nat for getting this thing up and running again! Anyways, we've got a whole new site layout and, as usual, a new comic! We also have alt-text now, and a commenting system for folks who don't know about the LJ, or just hate those new goddamned popover ads they've got. I had to hash it out with the automatic update system, which ended up requiring manual intervention, but I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I imagine little blips and bugs and such will occasionally pop up along the way, but so far, it's going quite nicely!
Happy Friday, all! |

| Blood test take 2 |
[Jan. 7th, 2010|05:46 pm] |
Had my second blood test today. Was much better than last time- it was non fasting and only one vial, so it was done in like 10 seconds. I walked out with Matt like "YEAH I AM AWESOME. FEAR ME."
I think it helped that I weight trained yesterday and when I woke up this morning the ache in my arms was far worse than any injection I've ever been given. It seems my quest to bulk myself up is actually upping my pain tolerance!
Oh, and in response to people who asked before- my blood tests are on the NHS, so I don't have to pay for them. They're just annoying :p |

"so how was your trip, you went with michele?" "yeah i went with michele. you know, you spend 3 days with someone and they're delightful but beyond that they start clearing their throat and stuff and you wanna kill them. it's the little things, i think you get it" "sure" "so anyway i've been researching old lovers on facebook and i got in touch with the girl i used to date in high school. when we were kids we used to dry hump in her parent's living room. and they would come in and give us dirty looks." "hah. well...are you around..?" "i got you this dress, it's very sexy, like you. but i'm not sure you'd like it, you're hard to shop for." "well thank you, when can i see you?" "i'm not sure, i'm going to claudia's and then gerty's. i hope you come to see her before she plotzs." "ok yes, but not today...so when can we..?" "have you been to the placement office yet?" "no." "well make someone your buddy, i know you hate me for saying this, but this is how the world works... give someone a scarf, like the ones i got from Saks.. if it's a woman.. you make people your friends." "uh huh.." "you're just yessing me now." |

| | braaaaahins.... | ] | And *drumroll*... it's a girl taking her clothes off. What a surprise, eh? ;-) Model is Gogo. Check out her blog, Zombie Cupcakes, if you're looking for interesting movies, the girl has excellent taste... or rather her taste, though more oriental-focused, is quite similar to mine so the term "excellent" might not turn out what you expect if you think that "Killer clowns from outer space" isn't a work of art! ;-)

First day at work and already I'm up to the neck with projects. Getting back to the 15 hours workday after two weeks basically spent in bed is going to be hellishly more difficult than I originally imagined. Also, staying up till half past four am playing Loco Roco 2 (*) for the nth time didn't exactly provide me with enough rest -though I'm not the only one with this problem, between hungover coworkers (possibly they were drinking in order to forget what lay ahead?), jetlagged coworkers and people with a fucked up sleep/wake cycle, the office is a veritable zombieland.
(*) I blame the bro, who gave me all the Angry VideoGame Nerd videos. For those who don't know the guy, he's basically an old school console game reviewer with Tourette. I reccomend his review of Bible games as a start if you want a taste, though my favourites are probably the Ghostbusters reviews featuring the Commodore game (as I played the damn thing to nausea when I was little) and the Atari porno. Classic. ^_^ |

dethtoll dot mid: mom just told me she's thinking of sending me to a military camp because i'm lazy and disrespectful. dethtoll dot mid: i know she probably didn't mean it but the sheer absurdity of sending a 27-year-old to a military camp like i'm some unruly 12-year-old is just so much what the fuck dethtoll dot mid: it's really insulting dethtoll dot mid: sometimes i consider moving out, in spite of the extreme disadvantages that keep me here, and it looks like we're having a repeat of early 2006 where she was basically a complete monster to me 24/7 dethtoll dot mid: and then i realize this is the best option i have because i really don't feel like living under a bridge with no food or hearing aid batteries, and start to wonder if maybe the in water ending is a better option 'cuz it's not like i'm ever going to be happy or successful thanks to my disability+my career choice being highly competitive+my utter social stunting thanks again to my mother and a school that was like living in a bubble dethtoll dot mid: fuck this shit. i'm going to go to bed and hope a 747 lands on my house. |

Today it struck me that when I think of Rorschach from Watchmen, I also think of Horshack from Welcome Back, Kotter. So I did one of Rorschach's speeches in Horshack's voice. It entertained me, anyway.
I also imagined that when Mad Magazine did their take on Watchmen, they probably called Rorschach 'Horshack'... or considered it, until they realized none of their readers would know who they were talking about.
The reason Horshack came up today is that I had this mental conversation with someone I used to know. "You'd put on some weight and you let your hair grow out into this big 'fro. Not an Epstein 'fro, just a Horshack 'fro."
This entry sounds very much like drugs were involved... |

Site's down. Not sure how long it will be that way. We tried to update the look using a Wordpress template and got a little ahead of ourselves. Oh, well. It's not like it will update before Friday, anyway.
Godspeed, O Webmaster! |
